No matter what your issue, some research group is studying it, bloviating about it, and attempting to influence policy-makers and the public. Allow for the biases -- there's always a bias -- and these organizations can provide useful sources of information -- newsletters, backgrounders, policy briefs, surveys, op-ed pieces, etc. -- and sometimes even be a source of money for your own projects.
