2012: Apparently, we can't

Okay. Let's get this out of our system now. Because in just a few months we're going to be invited again to ignore our lying eyes and vote to extend for four more years what historians will one day call the Bush-Obama Era. And it would be nice, wouldn't it, if we didn't fall for the same bullshit twice.

So who's better? Bachmann? Palin? Pawlenty? Gingrich? Romney? Would they have fought for health care reform? The stimulus? I think not. Bush lost New Orleans; Obama saved Detroit. That's the difference. Stop bashing the President. He's not the problem.

He's not the solution, either. It won't advance the progressive agenda to expend resources on Obama's reelection. Better to spend money and energy electing federal and state legislative candidates who support economic reform and a peace agenda, building alternative organizations, and establishing a viable third party. Obama's going to have unlimited quantities of corporate dollars in his pockets. He won't need help from the Left.
